A Little History: Where It All Started
The Dogs SA Winter International has been a highlight in the Australian dog-show scene for years now.
It all kicked off back in 2018 when it became the first Australian F.C.I C.A.C.I.B. Championship Show. Since then, the event has only gotten bigger (and more prestigious).
By 2023, it had become the first Australian show to award C.I.B. Junior Certificates towards the F.C.I. Junior Champion Title. And now, in 2025, we’re adding the Grooming Show to the mix with (yes, you guessed it), all the styling you could ever want to witness!
With no less than 16 Breed Specialty Shows lined up over the five days, the Winter International has rightfully earned the title of “Australia’s Favourite Show.”
A Global Affair: Judges and Competitors from All Over
One of the things that sets the Winter International apart is its international flavour.
In 2025, the event will feature eleven international judges from all around the world. You’ll also see dogs and handlers from every corner of the globe who are all bringing their A-game.
And on top of all that, there’s the Crufts Qualifier on the Saturday show. If you’re not familiar with it, let us explain: to qualify for Crufts (the most prestigious dog show in the world), your dog must win either the Dog Challenge Certificate or the Bitch Challenge Certificate, or place 1st in the Junior Dog or Junior Bitch class.
The best part? This is your chance to see some of the top dogs in the world, all vying for that prestigious qualification.
Grooming: The Secret to Success

There’s a lot to know if you’re entering the Winter International. For example, different class requirements are based on your dog’s age and champion status. If your dog is under three years old, you can enter an age-eligible class. If they’re over three and already a champion, they’ll need to enter the Champion Class.
There are also some pretty cool awards up for grabs. For example, the International Junior Beauty Champion title requires dogs to be awarded 1st “EXCELLENT” in their class at FCI International CACIB Shows by three different judges from three different countries. Pretty fancy, right?
